sciatica stretch

Does stretching can help relieve sciatic nerve pain?
I have a mild case of sciatica and was wondering if stretching can help. What are some good stretches? It straddles the divisions in the corners and back to help or is too much? I am very flexible, but I stopped stretching because I'm afraid it's worse.
Sciatica is simply a set of symptoms and treatment of the symptoms are not going to address the real problem. You need find the real cause of the symptoms, if there is a problem of the nerve root, facet sprain / strain, sacroiliac joint dysfunction or what ever. There are many possibilities. Many of the symptoms of sciatica comes from tight muscles, so stretching is a big benefit. If your joints are not working properly can cause the piriformis to strengthen pinching the sciatic nerve. See a chiropractor, as it will be able to diagnose the real cause of the problem and instead of trying to mask the symptoms. Here is an article on chiropractic treatment sciatica cases: http://www.spineuniverse.com/displayarticle.php/sciatica-treatment-chiro-3103.html Any sections will help, but I want to focus on stretching the muscles that the sciatic nerve runs through it or, as the buttocks and rotators hip deep. A stretch can prove a piriformis stretch. Lie on your back, grab your left knee with left hand and his left ankle with your hand right and pull the leg to the left shoulder. Ten for 20-30 seconds then bring that knee to your opposite shoulder with the ankle still. This should be even more intense at a stretch. Expect the same amount of time then the other leg. That should provide some relief.
