nerve block sciatica

Should I take medicine for pain?
I have 2 herniated disc, along with a degenerative disc in lower back. L5 and L6, to be exact. All which is causing the sciatica. I tried everything. Physical therapy, nerve block / injection, acupuncture and chromatography to name just few.I am severe asthmatic and suffer from a wide range of allergies, one of which is for example, NSAID's Motrin, Advil, etc. anti-inflammatory drug allergy is a major problem when it comes to controlling pain, because you can not take and that is the main treatment for my problem. I am only 41 years, I refuse any kind of non-invasive treatment so that leaves me with 2 options # 1 spend the rest of my life in severe pain becoming less and less functional # 2, which is highly recommended by my team and my pain managementt orthopedist, and that involves taking narcotic pain medication for an amount of time. Heres the problem I am terrified of becoming addicted. We all heard the horror stories. I would be closely monitored. What should I do?
Oh Boy! How can I get to understand your problem! I have functional disabilities the spine to the bottom due to degenerative osteoarthritis. I, too, were concerned about addiction and refuse to take anything that will make for a long period of ingestion. I have an osteopath and a chiropractor, so besides that I'm one of a group of people is a total believer and complimentary medicine alternative (CAM). I just do not like to have options out of control. I took herbal only, until he reached the point where they could not handle the pain problem. Then I was diagnosed, as if I did not know, the disabled, last year. My problems had lasted for years. Finally, faced with the reality that would need medication for pain and talked to the osteopath and he prescribed the lowest dose of a drug and a muscle relaxant. I take as needed for pain varies from mild to severe. I've been there for six months and I'm having problems with it. And I'm happy to say, without any signs of addiction. Is an opiate and I follow. I did not want to take Vicodin or something. It is possible that your pain is more intense and could not take something like this, but at least discuss with your pain management team. And do not be afraid. It's something you have to do to remain as functional as possible, for a time as possible. Moreover, I take turmeric as an anit-inflammatory. Ask about whether or not you can take with asthma. This is an alternative and make sure it is thoroughly investigated by his team of pain before answering. Good Luck!
