With most adults experiencing back pain at some point in their lives is important to understand what causes back problems, what treatment is available and how these conditions can be avoided. The main cause of a sore back muscles are weak. Overwork (tension) muscle, lifting inadequate, stress, physical activity, even a hard sneeze can cause discomfort and pain. Most of us are weekend warriors. During the week we sit in our cars to go to work. Then we sat at a table of hitting the keyboard. Comes the weekend and we're out on the golf course, play tennis or any number of weekend activities. Rolls around on Monday morning and can barely get out of bed! What happened?

Due to our sedentary lifestyle our muscles are weak. Back and stomach muscles unused to physical activity are under stress and the results are a pain. Fortunately not serious and usually feel better after a couple of days.

Treatment: Usually a bit of ice, rest and anti-inflammatory such as Advil, probably will take care of the discomfort and pain. If pain persists or worsens consult your doctor.

Prevention: But how to prevent back pain? Well, the answer is to strengthen back muscles and abdominals. There are many exercises and programs available. Some may do more harm than good.
