The appendix is a strange body, because it has no utility. Nobody really knows what they do. However, an inflammation of the appendix can cause death.
What is appendicitis?
The appendix is located in the lower right abdomen. This is a 3-1/2 inch body finger that extends from the colon or large intestine. Although there are arguments about the purpose of the court, no one is quite sure of its function. People can live without this body. Its removal does not cause any adverse consequences. Ironically, when the appendix becomes inflamed, red and full of pus, this leads to appendicitis which, if untreated, can cause death.
Anyone can actually develop the condition, but is common among people between 10 and 30. Rara time occurs in infants or young children. However, 1 of every 15 people that are likely to suffer from this condition.
This often requires immediate care. People who suffer from this medical problem will have to undergo a surgical procedure to remove the organ. In fact, there is no alternative treatment, but surgery. The appendix must be removed before it ruptures or perforates. The perforation can lead to peritonitis, which may cause death.
The causes of appendicitis
This condition occurs when the appendix is blocked by foreign bodies or debris from the body. Appendicitis may also be a complication or symptoms of cancer. An infection can also cause inflammation and often becomes inflamed when an infection.
Symptoms appendicitis
The symptoms of this condition usually starts with a pain that starts around the navel. Over time, the pain slowly moves the right lower abdomen. As the condition worsens, pain increases. Over 6 to 12 hours, the pain may get worse for a vague pain localized to something is completely debilitating.

Not all these symptoms occur however. People actually experience symptoms that range. Some may have a combination of these symptoms while others can only experience severe abdominal pain. Of course, there are some people who really suffer all these symptoms.
Treatment Condition
It is difficult to diagnose this condition. Symptoms are often vague and not localized. They can also be similar to symptoms of other common diseases such as urinary tract infections, gastritis, gallbladder disease and other medical problems.
To correctly diagnose the condition, the person suffering may have to undergo an abdominal and rectal examination. They may have to undergo a urine test and blood test to rule out causes such as urinary tract infection or other infections. The doctor may also recommend an ultrasound or CT scan.
When to Call the Doctor
If you are suffering from abdomen pain which is similar to the aforementioned symptoms should seek immediate medical attention. Make sure you do not eat or drink. Avoid taking painkillers, laxatives, antacids and do not use heating pads. The last drug can cause the appendix to burst.
The immediate medical attention when you are experiencing symptoms of appendicitis is vital for treatment. You should immediately seek medical intervention or visit the nearest emergency room.
